Wed Jan 01 06:06:00 UTC 2025: ## Kolkata Raid Nets ₹6.6 Crore in Suspected Spurious Drugs

**Kolkata, January 1, 2025** – A joint operation by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) and the West Bengal Drugs Control Directorate has uncovered a massive cache of counterfeit anti-cancer, anti-diabetic, and other medications in Kolkata. The drugs, with an estimated market value of ₹6.60 crore, were seized from M/s Care and Cure For You, a wholesale firm.

The raid, detailed in a Health Ministry press release, revealed that the drugs, purportedly manufactured in countries including Ireland, Turkey, the USA, and Bangladesh, lacked proper import documentation. The absence of this documentation led investigators to classify the drugs as spurious. The discovery of numerous empty packaging materials further fueled suspicions of widespread counterfeiting.

Samples of the seized drugs have been sent for quality testing, while the remaining stock is under CDSCO custody. The proprietor of M/s Care and Cure For You, a woman, has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody for 14 days to facilitate further interrogation. The investigation is ongoing.
