Wed Jan 01 11:08:02 UTC 2025: ## Delhi CM Accuses BJP of Plotting Temple Demolitions
**New Delhi, January 1, 2025** – Delhi Chief Minister Atishi today accused the BJP of orchestrating the demolition of six religious structures in the city, including Hindu temples and a Buddhist site containing a statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. She alleged that a Religious Committee, operating under the Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena, had ordered the demolitions on November 22nd, 2024, and that the file containing this order had been approved by the L-G’s office.
Atishi presented what she claimed were minutes from the committee meeting as evidence, directly contradicting the L-G’s office’s denial that no such demolition plans exist. She further stated that the MCD, DM offices, and police have been notified of the impending demolitions. The planned demolitions are slated to occur at various locations including West Patel Nagar, Dilshad Garden, Sunder Nagri, Seema Puri, Gokal Puri and New Usmanpur.
The Chief Minister contrasted this alleged action with the AAP’s promise to provide a ₹18,000 monthly honorarium to priests and granthis. She described the BJP’s actions as hypocritical, accusing the party of secretly plotting against Hindu religious sites while publicly portraying themselves as defenders of the Hindu faith.
The L-G’s office has yet to respond to the Chief Minister’s latest accusations. The BJP also remains silent on the matter.
