**Mumbai, India –** The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced a series of closures for its regional offices throughout January 2025, impacting banking services in various parts of the country. The closures are in observance of New Year’s Day, regional festivals, and other significant cultural events.
On January 1st, 2025, RBI offices in Aizawl, Chennai, Gangtok, Imphal, Itanagar, Kohima, Kolkata, and Shillong will be closed for New Year’s Day, Loosong, and Namsoong celebrations. Several other closures are planned throughout the month:
* **January 2nd:** Aizawl and Gangtok offices will remain closed for continuing Loosong, Namsoong, and New Year festivities.
* **January 6th:** Chandigarh offices will be closed for Sri Guru Gobind Singh’s Birthday.
* **January 11th:** Aizawl and Imphal will observe closures for Missionary Day and Imoinu Iratpa, respectively.
* **January 14th:** A large number of RBI offices across the country, including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana), Itanagar, Kanpur, and Lucknow, will be closed for Makar Sankranti, Pongal, and other regional festivals.
* **January 15th-16th:** Chennai offices will be closed for Thiruvalluvar Day and Uzhavar Thirunal.
* **January 23rd:** Agartala, Kolkata, and Bhubaneswar offices will be closed in observance of the Birthday of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and Vir Surendrasai Jayanti.
In addition to these closures, all scheduled and non-scheduled banks will observe the second and fourth Saturdays of January as public holidays.
