**Visakhapatnam, December 31, 2024** – A two-day national symposium on accident prevention in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries concluded Tuesday at the Government Institute of Chemical Engineering (GIC) in Visakhapatnam. The symposium highlighted human negligence and a lack of knowledge as the primary causes of accidents within these sectors.
Speakers at the valedictory session stressed the urgent need for improved safety systems. G.D. Yadav, former Vice-Chancellor of the Institute of Chemical Technology (Mumbai), served as chief guest. Participants received certificates, with awards presented to deserving industries. A brainstorming session allowed industrialists to share their concerns and receive expert responses.
GICE Principal K.V. Ramana and Head of Department Lakshman Rao stated that recommendations from regulatory authorities, industry representatives, and academics will be compiled into guidelines for industry policy and forwarded to the relevant state government agencies.
