**Surat, Gujarat –** Four workers died and one was injured in a fire at an ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) plant in Hazira, Gujarat, on Tuesday evening. Police Commissioner Anupam Singh Gehlot stated that the fire, which originated from spilled burning coal, engulfed a section of the plant, killing four laborers who were in a lift at the time. A company spokesperson attributed the incident to equipment failure in the Corex plant during a unit restart. The injured worker received on-site medical treatment and is recovering. AM/NS India is cooperating with authorities in the ongoing investigation and is providing support to the victims’ families. While three bodies have been sent for post-mortem, no accidental death report has yet been filed.
