**Bengaluru, January 1, 2025** – The BJP launched a protest in Bengaluru today demanding the resignation of Karnataka’s Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR) Minister, Priyank Kharge, following the suicide of a contractor allegedly due to harassment by an associate of the Minister.
A group of BJP leaders, including Leader of the Opposition in the Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, pasted posters calling for Kharge’s resignation and chanted slogans against the Congress government. Police detained the BJP leaders, who were later released.
Narayanaswamy criticized Kharge’s refusal to resign, stating the Minister should focus on ensuring justice for the deceased contractor’s family instead of viewing the situation as a matter of prestige. He denied that the BJP’s actions were a targeted attack, emphasizing the Opposition’s duty to raise public interest issues.
