Tue Dec 31 18:06:43 UTC 2024: ## Karnataka High Court Orders Speedy Hearing in Techie Suicide Case

**Bengaluru, January 1, 2025** – The Karnataka High Court has ordered a trial court to decide by January 4th on the bail application of Nikita Singhania, wife of a techie who died by suicide. Singhania is accused of abetting her husband’s suicide.

The High Court’s decision follows a petition filed by Singhania challenging the legality of her arrest and the charges against her. Her lawyer argued that the arrest was unlawful due to a lack of proper notification of the grounds for arrest and requested interim bail to allow her to defend herself in a separate Supreme Court case filed by her husband’s mother regarding custody of their child.

While the state prosecutor requested a delay until January 6th to gather further investigative details, the High Court agreed to expedite the process, directing the trial court to rule on the bail application by January 4th. The High Court also ordered Singhania’s father-in-law to inform the Supreme Court of her current judicial custody in Bengaluru. The case has been adjourned until January 6th.
