Fri Dec 27 16:10:28 UTC 2024: ## BJP MLA Munirathna Chargesheeted for Rape, Honey Trap, and Attempted HIV Infection
**Bengaluru, December 27, 2024** – A 2,481-page charge sheet has been filed against R.R. Nagar BJP MLA Munirathna, accusing him of rape, running a honey trap operation, and attempting to infect others with HIV. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) submitted the document to a special court on December 17.
The charges stem from a complaint filed by a political activist who alleges Munirathna befriended her during the pandemic, raped her, and blackmailed her with a video recording of the assault. She further alleges he forced her to participate in a honey trap scheme targeting his political rivals, using a woman with HIV.
The investigation revealed a broader conspiracy involving Munirathna and police inspector Iyan Reddy to infect R. Ashok, the Leader of Opposition, with HIV-infected blood. This attempt, however, failed.
Along with Munirathna, the SIT has also charge-sheeted inspector Iyan Reddy and two of Munirathna’s associates, Srinivas P. and Sudhakar R. They face charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including rape, spreading infectious diseases, voyeurism, and violations of the Information Technology Act. The charge sheet includes statements from 146 witnesses and 850 documents, with eight witnesses already having testified before a magistrate. Police have also recovered videos allegedly related to the honey trap operation.
