**New Delhi:** The mortal remains of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh were transported from his residence to the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters this morning. Party workers are paying their last respects before the final rites. Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were among those present at the AICC headquarters.
Dr. Singh’s body will be kept at the AICC headquarters until 8:30 AM before being taken to Nigambodh Ghat for the final cremation ceremony. Congress leader Amarinder Singh Raja Warring has demanded that the government allocate space for a memorial dedicated to the late Prime Minister.
A large crowd gathered at Dr. Singh’s residence to pay their respects. Delhi Police issued a traffic advisory ahead of the funeral, warning of potential delays and diversions on major roads around Nigambodh Ghat from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM on December 28th, urging citizens to utilize public transport to minimize congestion. The advisory highlighted potential traffic restrictions on major arteries including Raja Ram Kohli Marg, Rajghat Red Light, Signature Bridge, and Yudhisthir Setu.
The funeral is expected to draw numerous dignitaries and mourners.
