**Mumbai, December 28, 2024** – The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) launched a crackdown on illegal immigration, arresting more than a dozen Bangladeshi nationals, including six women, for entering India illegally and residing without valid documents. The arrests, part of a special operation conducted over the past 24 hours, involved collaborations with police forces in Navi Mumbai, Thane, and Solapur. Seven men and six women were apprehended and charged under the Foreigners Act and other relevant laws.

Authorities revealed that the Bangladeshi nationals had obtained fraudulent Indian documents, such as Aadhaar cards, using forged identification. In a separate operation in Jalna district on December 27th, a joint ATS and local police team arrested three more Bangladeshi nationals working at crusher machines in Bhokardan taluka. These individuals, apprehended in Anva and Kumbhari villages, are alleged to have used forged documents to work illegally in India for the past two years. Cases under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and the Foreigners Act have been registered against all those arrested. The ATS also busted an illegal telephone exchange in Thane district, resulting in one arrest.
