Sat Dec 28 07:00:55 UTC 2024: ## Delhi Records Highest Single-Day December Rainfall in 101 Years
**NEW DELHI, Dec. 28, 2024** – Delhi experienced its highest single-day December rainfall in over a century on Saturday, with 41.2 mm of rain recorded in the 24 hours ending at 8:30 a.m. This surpasses all previous records except for December 3, 1923, when 75.7 mm fell. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that December 2024 is now the fifth-highest rainfall month since record-keeping began in 1901. The downpour caused significant waterlogging in several parts of the city.
Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh also experienced widespread overnight showers due to a western disturbance and other weather systems. While the state enjoyed relatively warm minimum temperatures over the past three days due to overcast skies, a return to colder weather is anticipated by New Year’s Eve. The IMD has issued a warning for hailstorms, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in parts of Madhya Pradesh. Although some hailstorms were predicted, the IMD reported no such incidents as of Saturday morning. Bhopal recorded a minimum temperature of 17.8 degrees Celsius. The weather is expected to clear by Sunday, with temperatures dropping by 2-4 degrees Celsius in the following 72 hours.
