**NEW YORK** – Amazon Prime Video has secured Taylor Rooks as the lead host for its upcoming NBA studio coverage, sources familiar with the deal confirmed to The Athletic. Rooks, currently a features reporter for Amazon’s “Thursday Night Football,” will helm pregame, halftime, and postgame shows for the streaming giant’s extensive new NBA broadcasting package.
This announcement comes as Amazon prepares to launch its 11-year, nearly $20 billion NBA and WNBA broadcasting deal, which includes 60 regular season games per year, as well as Play-In Tournament games, playoff coverage, and the entirety of the NBA Cup’s knockout stage. Games will be available on Amazon’s base subscription tier. The broadcasts will be spread across Thursday and Friday nights, with some scheduling flexibility.
Rooks, who recently debuted as an NBA sideline reporter for TNT, has reportedly impressed Amazon executives with her work. Her extensive experience interviewing NBA athletes for Bleacher Report further strengthens her credentials for this high-profile role.
Amazon’s NBA broadcast team is shaping up to be a powerhouse. Ian Eagle is set to be the lead game announcer, with Kevin Harlan also potentially joining the broadcast crew. Hall of Famer Dirk Nowitzki is also reportedly close to signing on.
