**Bengaluru, December 26, 2024** – R.R. Nagar MLA Munirathna has filed a police complaint alleging he was attacked with acid-laced eggs on Wednesday evening. The MLA claims the attack was politically motivated and linked to threats he received from two individuals posing as advocates. These individuals allegedly threatened to file a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and defame him unless he resigned, paving the way for either D.K. Suresh or Kusuma to win upcoming by-elections.
Mr. Munirathna reported the threats to the Governor, State intelligence chief, President, and Prime Minister, and subsequently stopped attending public events due to safety concerns. The attack occurred as he was returning home after attending a function. He sustained burns to his head from the acid-laced eggs.
The Nandini Layout Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against unknown individuals for causing hurt and unlawful assembly. Investigations are underway.
