**NEW DELHI** – Former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has been admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi, sources confirmed late Monday evening. The 92-year-old was rushed to the hospital’s emergency department around 8 pm. While the reason for his hospitalization remains undisclosed, his family and senior Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra have arrived at the hospital.
Dr. Singh served as India’s finance minister from 1991 to 1996 under Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao, spearheading significant economic reforms. He later served two terms as Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, leading the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government. He retired from the Rajya Sabha, India’s upper house of parliament, in April of this year. Further updates on his condition are awaited.
