Thu Dec 26 09:30:00 UTC 2024: ## Zimbabwe Offers Free Entry to Historic Boxing Day Test
**Bulawayo, Zimbabwe –** Cricket fans in Zimbabwe will have free entry to witness their country’s first Boxing Day Test match in 28 years. Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) announced free admission to all spectators attending the two-Test series against Afghanistan at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, starting Thursday.
The decision aims to celebrate this historic milestone and create a vibrant atmosphere for the team. ZC Managing Director Givemore Makoni stated, “By offering free entry, we want to share this historic occasion with as many cricket lovers as possible.” The last time Zimbabwe hosted a Boxing Day Test was in 1996 against England.
The series also marks Zimbabwe’s inaugural New Year’s Test, scheduled for January 2-6, 2025. However, rain is forecast for all five days of the first Test.
The Zimbabwean team has also seen a late change, with experienced fast bowler Victor Nyauchi replacing Takudzwa Chataira, who sustained a right-side strain. Nyauchi brings nine Test appearances and 20 wickets to the squad.
This Test series follows Zimbabwe’s recent losses to Afghanistan in both T20I and ODI series. The team will be hoping for a strong performance in front of a hopefully large, free-entry crowd.
