**NEW DELHI** – India observed Veer Bal Diwas (Brave Children’s Day) on December 26th, commemorating the martyrdom of the four sons of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru. The day, declared a national observance in 2022, honors the sacrifices made by Sahibzadas Ajit Singh, Jujhar Singh, Zorawar Singh, and Fateh Singh, who gave their lives fighting for their faith and against Mughal oppression.

During the Mughal reign in Punjab, Guru Gobind Singh’s family was forced into hiding in 1705. His elder sons fought and died battling Mughal forces. His younger sons, Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh, were tragically bricked alive by the Mughals. Their mother, Mata Gujri, died of grief following their deaths.

Veer Bal Diwas serves as a reminder of courage, patriotism, and unwavering faith. Schools and religious institutions across the country hold events to honor the Sahibzadas’ sacrifice and to promote national unity and brotherhood. The day emphasizes the values of selfless service and dedication to one’s principles.
