Thu Dec 26 11:52:17 UTC 2024: ## Dhawan’s “Baby John” Earns Average ₹11.25 Crore on Opening Day
**Mumbai, December 26, 2024** – Varun Dhawan’s Bollywood debut “Baby John,” a remake of the Tamil action film “Theri,” had a modest opening day, raking in ₹11.25 crore (India net) on Christmas Day. While falling short of recent blockbusters like “Mufasa: The Lion King” and “Pushpa 2: The Rule,” the film’s producers are celebrating it as the “biggest opener for a non-franchise film post-pandemic” and “the highest opening day among remakes” in the same period.
The film, directed by Kalees and produced by Atlee, features an ensemble cast including Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, Jackie Shroff, and Rajpal Yadav. Initial box office tracking indicates a 24.97% Hindi occupancy rate nationwide, with higher numbers reported in cities like Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Lucknow.
Despite the average opening day collection, Dhawan’s performance in “Baby John” follows his recent role in the web series “Citadel: Honey Bunny.” His upcoming projects include “Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari,” “Border 2,” and a film with his father, David Dhawan.
