**CHENNAI, December 26, 2024** – A traffic island on Luz Church Road near Kauvery Hospital has been officially renamed the ‘Iyakkunar Sigaram K. Balachander Traffic Island’ in a ceremony held today. The renaming, honoring the renowned Tamil film director, was ordered by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.

The new name board was unveiled by Minister for Municipal Administration and Water Supply K.N. Nehru, along with Mayor R. Priya and Greater Chennai Corporation Commissioner J. Kumaragurubaran. Members of the Tamil film industry also attended the inauguration. The traffic island is located in Ward-123 under Teynampet Zone (IX).
