Thu Dec 26 01:50:00 UTC 2024: ## Australia Dominates Day 1 of Boxing Day Test Against India

**Melbourne, Australia** – Australia took control on Day 1 of the Boxing Day Test against India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), reaching 176/2 at the close of play. Winning the toss and electing to bat, the Australian openers, Usman Khawaja and debutant Sam Conis, set a strong foundation.

Khawaja, who scored a half-century (57), became Jasprit Bumrah’s first victim, caught by KL Rahul. Conis, also contributing a half-century (60), was dismissed LBW to Ravindra Jadeja. At stumps, Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith remained unbeaten at the crease.

Despite India’s attempts to curb the run flow in the second session, the Australian batsmen showed resilience, losing only one wicket after tea. The Indian bowlers struggled to find breakthroughs, with the exception of Bumrah and Jadeja’s key dismissals.

The first session saw Australia reach 112/1, with Conis’ impressive 60 laying a solid platform for the team. India’s early reviews proved unsuccessful, highlighting the challenge faced by the bowling attack.

The series is currently tied 1-1, after India won the first match and Australia secured victory in the second. The third Test in Gabba ended in a draw. This fourth encounter promises to be a crucial clash as both teams look to take the lead.
