**New Delhi, December 25, 2024** – A severe cold wave continues to grip North India, with Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) experiencing its chilling effects. Light rain yesterday further exacerbated the cold, causing significant disruption. Dense fog is creating hazardous driving conditions and contributing to several reported accidents.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for dense fog and a continuing cold wave across several states in northern India. In Delhi-NCR, temperatures are expected to hover between 15°C and 23°C today, December 25th, with no rain predicted. However, the IMD warns of potential rain and plummeting temperatures in the coming days and has issued a yellow alert for dense fog today.

Conditions are particularly harsh in Himachal Pradesh, where a four-day orange alert has been issued for a severe cold wave affecting lower hilly regions. Light rain and snowfall are also forecast for higher altitudes over the next two to three days. The IMD urges residents to take precautions to stay safe during this period of extreme cold.
