Wed Dec 25 15:36:19 UTC 2024: ## Local Soldier Killed in Jammu and Kashmir Accident

**MANGALURU, December 25, 2024** – Anup Poojary, a 31-year-old soldier from Kundapur, Udupi district, died in a vehicle accident in Jammu and Kashmir on December 24. Poojary, who served with the Maratha Light Infantry Battalion for 13 years, was one of five soldiers killed when their vehicle plunged into a gorge in Mendhar. He is survived by his wife and two children.

Poojary recently visited his hometown to participate in the Koti festival on December 15th. His remains will arrive at Mangaluru International Airport from Belagavi via IAF AN-32 aircraft around 1 a.m. on Thursday. A procession will be held in Koteshwara before his last rites are performed in Beejady on December 26th.
