Wed Dec 25 14:42:28 UTC 2024: ## BJP Leader Supports Naming Mysuru Road After Chief Minister Siddaramaiah

**Mysuru, December 25, 2024** – BJP leader and former MP Prathap Simha has voiced his support for a Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) proposal to name a section of KRS Road after Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Despite ideological differences, Simha lauded Siddaramaiah as an illustrious son of Mysuru, whose contributions to the city’s development are undeniable.

Simha’s endorsement comes amidst opposition from some quarters, including the JD(S), a BJP alliance partner. He argued that naming roads after achievers is a long-standing tradition, citing Siddaramaiah’s role in establishing a 200-bed branch of the Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, and a ₹127 crore super-specialty hospital in Mysuru. He labeled the opposition as “narrow-minded” and “petty,” emphasizing that achievers are not limited to any single party.

Addressing concerns about the historical significance of the road, which includes the Princess Krishnajammanni Tuberculosis (PKTB) hospital established by the Maharajas, Simha acknowledged the Maharajas’ contributions but highlighted the crucial roles played by Dewans like Sir M. Visvesvaraya and Sir Mirza Ismail in implementing those projects. He stressed the importance of recognizing post-colonial achievers, citing Siddaramaiah’s involvement in constructing the new Deputy Commissioner’s office and Rajapath.

Simha urged people to view Siddaramaiah not as a Congress leader, but as a distinguished son of Mysuru, deserving of this recognition. The proposed name for the road section is “Siddaramaiah Arogya Marga” (Siddaramaiah Health Path).
