**Madurai, Tamil Nadu, December 25, 2024** – A 22-year-old man’s selfless act has saved five lives after his organs were donated following his death from injuries sustained in a road accident. N. Sanjay of Ramanathapuram district, who was declared brain dead on December 22nd at Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Research Centre after a road accident near Tirumangalam, had his organs harvested following state government approval.
His organs were transported to various hospitals across Tamil Nadu and Chennai: one kidney remained at Meenakshi Mission Hospital, the other went to SRM Medical College and Hospital in Tiruchi, his liver to Vadamalayan Hospitals in Madurai, his heart to MGM Healthcare in Chennai via airlift, and his corneas to Aravind Eye Hospital in Madurai. Ramanathapuram MP K. Navaskani and officials paid their respects to the deceased. The generous donation highlights the life-saving potential of organ donation.
