**SHIVAMOGGA, December 25, 2024** – Former Deputy Chief Minister K.S. Eshwarappa has criticized the Karnataka government’s decision to hand over the investigation into BJP MLC C.T. Ravi’s arrest to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Speaking to reporters Wednesday, Eshwarappa argued that a fair investigation is impossible as the CID operates under the state government. He suggested that the truth behind the arrest would emerge only if Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar were also arrested.

Eshwarappa questioned the police’s actions, highlighting the alleged ill-treatment of Mr. Ravi following his arrest for an alleged obscene remark against Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar. He pointed to Home Minister G. Parameshwara’s claim of unawareness regarding the arrest, demanding to know who directed the police actions. He believes arresting Shivakumar would reveal the truth behind the directives.

Instead of a CID probe, Eshwarappa advocated for a judicial inquiry into the matter. He believes the CID investigation is inherently biased given its subordination to the state government.
