**Mumbai, India** – Varun Dhawan’s highly anticipated action thriller, “Bawaal,” (a remake of the Tamil film “Theri”) has hit theaters. Directed by Kalis and produced by Atlee, the film features a cameo by Salman Khan, generating significant pre-release buzz. While delivering on action, critics find the film lacking in other areas.

The film follows Baby John (Dhawan), a man juggling fatherhood with a seemingly normal life until a police call reveals a hidden past as IPS officer Satya Verma. The narrative then shifts to Satya’s backstory six years prior, revolving around a tragic rape and murder case.

Dhawan delivers a strong performance, particularly in the action sequences, praised for their choreography by Sunil Rodrigues. Thman S’s background score also receives positive feedback. The second half sees Rajpal Yadav providing comedic relief. Jackie Shroff as the villain delivers a compelling performance. While Wamika Gabbi and Keerthy Suresh provide solid performances in their supporting roles, neither significantly advances the plot.

However, the film’s songs are criticized as underwhelming and detracting from the overall viewing experience. While the action and some performances are highlights, the lack of depth and reliance on familiar tropes ultimately hold back “Bawaal” from achieving full potential. The film offers thrilling action but lacks the compelling narrative to make it a truly memorable cinematic experience.
