Wed Dec 25 01:20:00 UTC 2024: ## Delhi Airport Issues Advisory Amidst Dense Fog, Flight Delays Expected
**New Delhi, December 25, 2024** – Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) issued an advisory today warning of potential flight disruptions due to dense fog blanketing the National Capital Region (NCR). The advisory specifically states that flights not equipped with CAT III compliant landing systems may experience delays or cancellations. Passengers are urged to contact their respective airlines for the latest flight information. Indigo Airlines has also advised passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport.
The thick fog, which descended upon Delhi-NCR early Wednesday morning, significantly impacted air and rail travel. Visibility on roads, particularly on routes like the Dwarka Expressway connecting to Ghaziabad, Noida, and Gurugram, was severely reduced, causing traffic congestion and delays. At least 20 trains arriving in Delhi from various states experienced delays due to the poor weather conditions. Affected trains include the Goa Express, Purva Express, Kalindi Express, and the Rewa-Anand Vihar Terminal SF Express.
The minimum temperature in Delhi plummeted to 9°C today, following a slight dip to 7°C on Tuesday after light rainfall. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast further rainfall on December 26th and issued a yellow alert for dense fog beyond December 25th. Despite the foggy conditions, Tuesday’s rainfall resulted in an improvement in Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI).
