**Los Angeles, CA** – Prolific television producer and director Woody Fraser passed away Saturday afternoon at the age of 90, his daughter Stacy confirmed to Variety. Fraser, a giant in the industry, leaves behind a legacy spanning five decades and encompassing some of the most iconic talk, news, and variety shows in television history.
His career began at NBC in 1960, quickly leading to the co-creation of “The Mike Douglas Show” with Douglas himself. The show, which ran for over 4,000 episodes between 1961 and 1982, cemented Fraser’s place as a leading figure in television production. His impressive resume also includes credits on “Good Morning America,” “The Dick Cavett Show,” “The Richard Simmons Show,” and more recent projects like CNBC’s “McEnroe” and Fox News’ “Huckabee.” He was also instrumental in the 2012 revival of Hallmark Channel’s “Home & Family,” which ran for nine seasons.
Fellow producer E.V. Di Massa Jr., a longtime collaborator, mourned Fraser on Facebook, calling him “a true producing genius” and sharing a photo of them accepting an Emmy Award together.
Fraser’s contributions extended far beyond individual shows; during his peak, he was responsible for over 32 hours of weekly television programming. He is survived by eight children and three grandchildren. Further details regarding services are expected to be released in the coming days.
