**Mumbai, India –** Celebrated Indian filmmaker Shyam Benegal passed away on Monday evening at the age of 90, his daughter Pia Benegal confirmed to Hindustan Times. Benegal, known for his contributions to Indian parallel cinema, had been battling chronic kidney disease for several years. He died at Wockhardt Hospital Bombay Central.
