Mon Dec 23 18:28:07 UTC 2024: ## Shami Ruled Out of Remaining Border-Gavaskar Trophy Tests
**Melbourne, Australia –** Veteran Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been ruled out of the final two Test matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy due to a left knee issue. The 34-year-old, who boasts 229 Test wickets, underwent surgery on his right heel earlier this year and has fully recovered from that injury. However, increased bowling workload has resulted in minor swelling in his left knee, requiring further rehabilitation.
According to a statement released by BCCI joint-secretary Devajit Saikia, the BCCI medical team determined that Shami needs more time to manage his bowling load and deemed him unfit for selection for the upcoming Tests in Melbourne and Sydney. Shami’s last international appearance was in the ODI World Cup final in November 2023.
While Shami will continue his rehabilitation and strength and conditioning program at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence, his participation in the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy will depend on his progress. The team will continue to monitor his recovery closely. His absence leaves a significant gap in India’s pace attack for the crucial remaining matches of the series.
