Tue Dec 24 01:34:12 UTC 2024: **India’s Shami Ruled Out of Remaining Australia Tests Due to Knee Swelling**

**New Delhi, December 23, 2024** – Indian pacer Mohammed Shami has been ruled out of the final two Tests against Australia due to swelling in his left knee, the BCCI announced today. While fully recovered from a previous right heel injury, the increased bowling workload following his return to competitive cricket has caused the knee issue.

Shami, who last played for India in the ODI World Cup final in November 2023, played extensively in domestic tournaments following his heel surgery recovery. However, the BCCI medical team determined that his knee requires further rest and controlled rehabilitation before he can resume the bowling demands of Test cricket.

The 34-year-old, who has a stellar record of 229 Test wickets, will continue his recovery at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence. His participation in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy remains uncertain, pending progress. The absence of Shami is a significant blow to India’s bowling attack, particularly given the team’s reliance on Jasprit Bumrah in Australia.
