**Chennai, December 23, 2024** – Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Monday accused the BJP-led central government of posing a threat to the rights and welfare of India’s minorities. Speaking at a Christmas celebration organized by the DMK’s Minorities Rights Wing, Mr. Stalin asserted that the BJP’s inability to remove “secularism” from the Constitution has led them to attempt to dilute it through other means.
He criticized the BJP’s pursuit of “One Nation-One Election,” viewing it as a strategy to establish a “unitary nation” based on a singular religion, language, and culture. Mr. Stalin emphasized that patriotic Indians would resist this effort. He highlighted the DMK’s consistent opposition to policies like the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), contrasting their stance with the AIADMK’s support for the Act in Parliament.
Mr. Stalin reiterated the DMK’s commitment to protecting minorities and promoting secularism and communal harmony, urging minorities not to succumb to fear in the face of divisive rhetoric. He attributed the BJP’s inability to secure a majority in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections to the unity of democratic forces.
