Tue Dec 24 15:13:26 UTC 2024: ## CPI(M) Leader Condemns Amit Shah’s Remarks on Ambedkar

**Madurai, Tamil Nadu –** Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader K. Balabharathi has strongly condemned Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent statement in the Rajya Sabha regarding B.R. Ambedkar, calling it a pre-planned attempt to disrespect the Indian Constitution. Speaking at a protest organized by the Tamil Nadu Untouchability Eradication Front on Tuesday, Ms. Balabharathi alleged that Mr. Shah’s statement, made under the guise of celebrating the Constitution’s 75th anniversary, was a deliberate attempt to undermine the document. She further characterized the statement not as a personal opinion but as reflective of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) political ideology to establish a “Hindu Rashtra.”

Ms. Balabharathi pointed to the BJP’s significant loss in the Ayodhya Lok Sabha constituency as evidence of public rejection of the party’s Hindutva agenda. She argued that the BJP’s reduced seat count in Uttar Pradesh, traditionally a BJP stronghold, demonstrates the failure of their “Ram Temple” politics. She asserted that the Indian Constitution’s secular and progressive principles have consistently thwarted the BJP’s attempts to divide the population based on religion and caste. Ms. Balabharathi concluded by demanding Mr. Shah’s resignation from his position as Home Minister.
