**Bengaluru, December 23, 2024** – The city of Bengaluru has witnessed two inspiring acts of organ donation following tragic road accidents. The selfless decisions of the families of a young doctor and a blind man have given the gift of life to multiple recipients.
Twenty-five-year-old Dr. Sandhya, a doctor from Devanahalli, succumbed to a severe traumatic brain injury after a December 6th road accident. Despite emergency surgery, she was declared brain-dead on December 9th. Her family, honoring her commitment to serving society, donated her lungs, kidneys, liver, corneas, heart valves, skin, and tissues. Family members stated that Sandhya aspired to improve healthcare access in rural areas, and her organ donation continues her legacy of service.
In a separate incident, 48-year-old Manjunath V., a blind man, was involved in a road accident on December 15th on Mysore Road. He suffered severe head trauma and was declared brain-dead on December 16th. His family’s decision to donate his kidneys, liver, heart valves, and corneas provided a lifeline to others in need. The organs were allocated through the Jeevasarthakathe organ donation network.
These acts of selflessness highlight the profound impact of organ donation and serve as an inspiration to the community.
