Mon Dec 23 13:54:01 UTC 2024: ## Guntur Police Launch Cyber Awareness Campaign
**Guntur, Andhra Pradesh –** In response to a surge in cybercrimes, Guntur District Superintendent of Police (SP) S. Satish Kumar launched the “Cyber Valour-2024” program on Monday. The initiative, held at Sri Venkateswara Vignan Mandir, aimed to educate the public about online fraud and preventative measures.
SP Kumar stressed the vulnerability of all age groups, particularly middle-aged and retired individuals, to cyber scams due to a lack of digital awareness. He emphasized that awareness is the primary defense against such crimes.
The program included a cybersecurity fair and a short film competition, with cash prizes awarded to students from several colleges for their creative depictions of common scams such as OTP fraud and employment-related schemes.
Patibandla Prasad, Director of the Centre for Research on Cyber Intelligence and Digital Forensics (CRCIDF), Hyderabad, served as chief guest and highlighted the escalating number of financial and social cybercrimes. He urged citizens to exercise caution when verifying online communications and avoid sharing personal information or responding to suspicious contacts.
The event brought together law enforcement, educators, students, and community members, underscoring the collaborative effort required to combat the growing threat of cybercrime. Victims were urged to contact the National Cyber Security Cell’s toll-free number 1930 or report incidents to local banks and police stations.
