Mon Dec 23 14:57:31 UTC 2024: ## Karnataka State Road Transport Employees to Launch Indefinite Strike

**Kalaburagi, Karnataka – December 23, 2024** – Thousands of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) employees are set to launch a statewide indefinite strike on December 31st, demanding the state government address long-outstanding dues totaling ₹8,010 crore.

According to a joint press conference held Monday by Chandrakant Gaddagi, district president of KSRTC Kalyana Karnataka Committee, and Siddappa Palki, secretary of KSRTC Staff and Workers Federation, the government owes arrears of ₹1,785 crore (spanning January 2020 to February 2023), ₹2,900 crore in Provident Fund contributions, and ₹325 crore in Dearness Allowance to retired employees. Further, the government is allegedly in arrears of ₹2,000 crore related to the Shakti Scheme and ₹1,000 crore for fuel bills across the four transport corporations: KSRTC, BMTC, KKRTC, and NWRTC.

The Karnataka State Road Transportation Employees Joint Action Committee has vowed to continue the strike until their demands are met in full. The strike is expected to significantly disrupt public transport across the state.
