**Hyderabad, Telangana, December 22, 2024** – A joint operation by the Patancheru police and the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB) has resulted in the arrest of two Mumbai-based drug peddlers and the seizure of one kilogram of MDMA. The suspects, Mohammed Salim Abdul Hamid Shaikh (30) and Mukesh Dubey (30), were apprehended on Friday following an intelligence-led operation.
Police investigations revealed that the duo sourced the MDMA from Nigerian suppliers, Jerry and Jimmy, based in Delhi. They purchased the drug at ₹1,000 per gram and resold it in Mumbai and Hyderabad for ₹4,000-₹5,000 per gram. The operation uncovered a network involving a third Mumbai resident, Rayees Riyaz Shaikh (33), who remains at large, and a Hyderabad-based peddler, Shaik Amer, who also facilitated the drug trafficking.
Shaikh and Dubey’s connection was forged through an online dating app, leading to their MDMA addiction and subsequent involvement in the drug trade. Dubey acted as a courier, transporting drugs from Delhi to Hyderabad, while Amer served as a local distributor. The arrests came after Shaikh and Shaikh purchased 1320 grams of MDMA ten days prior, selling 320 grams to Amer before their apprehension with the remaining kilogram.
The impending New Year’s celebrations prompted Amer’s request for more MDMA, leading to the duo’s trip to Hyderabad and subsequent arrest. The investigation is ongoing, and efforts are underway to apprehend the absconding suspects.
