Sun Dec 22 07:27:29 UTC 2024: ## Italian Filmmaker Alice Rohrwacher Praises Indian Film “All We Imagine As Light”

**CANNES, FRANCE & NEW YORK, NY** – Acclaimed Italian filmmaker Alice Rohrwacher, known for her magical realism, has heaped praise on Indian director Payal Kapadia’s “All We Imagine As Light,” calling it a “big revelation.” The statement came during a roundtable interview promoting her new short film, “An Urban Allegory,” alongside JR.

Rohrwacher’s praise follows Kapadia’s declaration that Rohrwacher’s 2018 film, “Happy As Lazzaro,” was the “best film of this century.” Rohrwacher responded with delight, expressing her honor and stating that Kapadia’s film deeply resonated with her. She likened the growth of her own film to a tree needing time to flourish, and viewed Kapadia’s work as another such tree growing within her.

“All We Imagine As Light,” which recently won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival and earned Payal Kapadia a Golden Globe nomination for Best Director, follows the intertwined stories of a nurse and her roommate as they grapple with their desires and emotions. The film, starring Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, and Chhaya Kadam, is currently playing in theaters nationwide.

Rohrwacher’s “An Urban Allegory,” a collaborative short film with JR, is available to stream on MUBI. The mutual admiration between these two celebrated directors highlights the cross-cultural appreciation for compelling cinema.
