Sun Dec 22 05:22:12 UTC 2024: ## Telugu Actor Allu Arjun Faces Backlash After Stampede at “Pushpa 2” Premiere
**Hyderabad, Telangana –** Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy launched a scathing attack on Telugu actor Allu Arjun Saturday, alleging irresponsible behavior leading to a deadly stampede at a “Pushpa 2” screening. A 35-year-old woman died and her eight-year-old son was critically injured in the incident on December 4th at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad.
Reddy stated that despite police denying permission for a visit due to anticipated crowd control issues, Arjun proceeded with an appearance at the theatre. He criticized the actor for conducting an impromptu roadshow, waving to fans from his car sunroof, exacerbating an already dangerous situation. Thousands of fans gathered, resulting in a stampede. The Chief Minister further alleged that the actor refused initial requests from police to leave, only complying after a senior officer intervened. Even then, he reportedly continued waving to the crowd while departing.
Reddy highlighted the theatre management’s prior request for security, which was rejected by police due to concerns about the single entry/exit point and expected crowd size. He questioned Arjun’s conduct, particularly his alleged uncooperative behavior with police when they subsequently informed him of the case against him. Reddy also condemned the film industry’s outpouring of support for Arjun after his arrest, contrasting it with the lack of visits to the injured boy in the hospital.
A case has been registered against Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Arjun was arrested on December 13th but granted interim bail the same day by the Telangana High Court.
State Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy spoke out against unauthorized late-night “benefit shows” and announced Rs 25 lakh in assistance to the deceased woman’s family. The eight-year-old boy remains hospitalized but is reportedly showing signs of improvement. The Chief Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to holding those responsible accountable and reiterated that while the film industry receives government incentives, such privileges will not extend to those who endanger public safety.
