Sat Dec 21 02:27:46 UTC 2024: ## Andhra Pradesh to Adopt Pune’s Sanitation Model
**Vijayawada, December 21, 2024** – Andhra Pradesh is set to overhaul its sanitation system, drawing inspiration from Pune’s successful Swachh Cooperative Society (SCS). Kommareddy Pattabhi Ram, Chairman of the Swachha Andhra Corporation, visited the SCS on Friday and praised its model as one of the best in India.
The SCS, comprised of nearly 8,000 rag-pickers, primarily women, manages waste collection, segregation, and transport in an organized manner. The cooperative generates significant income by selling recyclable dry waste, earning each member approximately ₹25,000 per month. Ram aims to replicate this successful model in Andhra Pradesh to improve sanitation management in the state.
