**Gurugram, Haryana –** Former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala passed away at the age of 89 on Friday following a cardiac arrest. The five-time Chief Minister and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) president succumbed to his illness at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram after being rushed there from his home.

In a show of respect, the Haryana government has declared a three-day state mourning period from December 20th to 22nd. The national flag will fly at half-mast on all government buildings, and all official functions and entertainment are cancelled during this time. Saturday, December 21st, has been declared a public holiday for all state government offices. Chautala will receive a state funeral at 3 pm on Saturday at his family’s Teja Khera farm in Sirsa district. He was the son of former Deputy Prime Minister Devi Lal.
