**Jaipur, Rajasthan:** The death toll from Friday’s LPG tanker explosion in Jaipur has risen to 14, with two more victims succumbing to their injuries on Saturday. The devastating accident, which occurred on Ajmer Road near Delhi Public School, involved a Bharat Petroleum tanker colliding with a truck. The impact caused five LPG nozzles on the tanker to rupture, releasing 18 tons of gas and resulting in a massive explosion that engulfed the area in flames.
Five people died at the scene, while nine others succumbed to their injuries at Sawai Man Singh Hospital. A further 31 individuals remain hospitalized, with approximately 20 suffering up to 80% burns. Hospital officials report that the identities of some of the deceased have yet to be established.
The explosion also narrowly missed a second LPG tanker parked nearby. The cause of the initial collision is under investigation. Authorities have announced a compensation of ₹7 lakh from the Prime Minister and Chief Minister’s relief funds for affected families. The incident has left the community devastated, with eyewitness accounts describing horrific scenes.
