Fri Dec 20 13:42:37 UTC 2024: ## Supreme Court to Hear NIA Appeal Against Bail for PFI Members in RSS Leader’s Murder Case

**New Delhi, December 20, 2024** – The Supreme Court will review the Kerala High Court’s decision to grant bail to 17 Popular Front of India (PFI) members accused in the 2022 murder of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Srinivasan in Palakkad, Kerala. A bench comprising Justices Abhay S. Oka and Augustine George Masih issued a notice to the accused, seeking their response to the National Investigation Agency’s (NIA) appeal.

The High Court had granted bail in June, imposing strict conditions including the sharing of real-time GPS locations and phone numbers with investigators. The NIA argued against the bail, citing the gravity of the crime and the accused’s alleged involvement in wider communal violence.

The Supreme Court expressed its displeasure at the delay in listing six related petitions, emphasizing that its directives must be followed by the court registry. The matter has been adjourned until January 17, 2025.
