**Bengaluru, Karnataka –** C.T. Ravi, a BJP Member of the Legislative Council (MLC), was arrested Thursday for allegedly making offensive remarks against Karnataka Minister and Congress leader Laxmi Hebbalkar. An FIR was filed against Ravi following his comments, leading to his arrest by police.
Ravi was initially taken to Khanapur police station and later transferred to Ramdurg station. He subsequently alleged on X (formerly Twitter) that he sustained injuries during the arrest and claimed the police and the Congress government were plotting against him, accusing them of threatening his life. He stated that the Karnataka police took three hours to provide first aid for his injuries.
The BJP’s official X account further escalated the situation, accusing the state government of conspiring to murder their leader.
Minister Hebbalkar responded by stating she was unsure how to react to Ravi’s comments and affirmed she was unafraid.
The arrest has fueled political tensions in Karnataka, with the BJP alleging police misconduct and a conspiracy against its MLC. The incident underscores the ongoing political rivalry between the ruling Congress party and the opposition BJP in the state.
