Fri Dec 20 11:13:01 UTC 2024: ## Telangana Assembly in Uproar Over Formula-E Race Inquiry
**Hyderabad, December 20, 2024** – The Telangana Legislative Assembly was disrupted for over four hours today as the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) opposition party protested a government inquiry into alleged irregularities surrounding the Formula-E car races. BRS members demanded a debate on the government’s decision to launch the inquiry, which they claim is politically motivated.
The BRS, led by T. Harish Rao, insisted that the Formula-E race benefited the state and that the case against party leader K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) was baseless. Rao challenged the government to prove otherwise and called for a discussion in the assembly to allow KTR to present his views. KTR himself has written to the Chief Minister, daring him to hold a discussion on the matter and calling the case “rubbish.”
Despite pleas from the Speaker, G. Prasad Kumar, and requests to allow passage of the Telangana Bhu Bharathi (Record of Rights on Land) Act, 2024, the BRS members remained adamant. Their protest included disrupting the proceedings, tearing up papers, and shouting slogans. Congress member Revuri Prakash Reddy pointed out that the matter was already under investigation by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).
The Speaker’s attempts to restore order were unsuccessful, leading to two adjournments of the House. Both the MIM and BJP appealed for the Speaker to take action to allow the assembly to conduct its business. The protest highlights escalating tensions between the ruling party and the BRS over the Formula-E race investigation.
