**Copenhagen, Denmark –** Realme has announced a unique feature for its upcoming realme 14 Pro series: a temperature-sensitive color-changing back. The rear cover shifts from pearl white to vibrant blue when the temperature drops below 16 degrees Celsius (60 degrees Fahrenheit), reversing the process when it warms up. This effect, inspired by color-changing marine life, is achieved through thermochromic pigments.
Realme, in collaboration with Valeur Designers, also revealed a Pearl White color option with a distinctive shell-like texture and pearl-like luster, similar to the HUAWEI P60 Pro. Each Pearl White variant boasts a unique pattern.
A first for the series, the realme 14 Pro range will include IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance ratings. The Pro Plus model, specifically, features a quad-curved screen, a triple rear camera system with a triple camera flash for night portraits, an unspecified periscope camera, and a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset.
While Realme cautions that the color-changing effect may gradually diminish over approximately 12 months, with sunlight accelerating the degradation, users can mitigate this by using a phone case.
Pricing, availability, and full specifications are yet to be announced. Realme promises more details soon. The company is particularly hoping the 14 Pro Plus will deliver a flagship-level camera experience, building on the success of previous models.
