**New Delhi, December 19, 2024** – A heated brawl erupted in Parliament today, sparking accusations and counter-accusations between the BJP and Congress. The clash, which occurred amidst protests over Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s controversial remarks on B.R. Ambedkar, resulted in injuries to several MPs.
BJP MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi alleged that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi instigated the violence, claiming Gandhi pushed another MP, causing Sarangi to fall and sustain injuries. Sarangi was subsequently taken to the hospital for first aid. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju strongly condemned Gandhi, questioning his actions and demanding an apology. Rijiju highlighted Gandhi’s Aikido black belt, stating Parliament is “not a wrestling arena.” The BJP has filed a police complaint against Gandhi.
However, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, a Congress ally, vehemently defended Gandhi on social media, stating that such behavior is “simply not in his nature.” The Congress also alleged that party chief Mallikarjun Kharge was injured during the scuffle and claims the accusations against Gandhi are a diversionary tactic to deflect attention from Shah’s comments. The Congress has also filed a police complaint. The incident has further fueled the already tense political climate in the nation’s capital.
