**Hyderabad, India** – Kia India has officially unveiled its new compact SUV, the Kia Syros. The vehicle is slated for launch early next year and will slot between the Kia Seltos and Kia Sonet in the company’s lineup. Kia is highlighting the Syros’s unique design and premium features, claiming they surpass those currently offered in any of the company’s existing SUVs or sub-4 meter segment models.
The Syros will offer powertrain options mirroring the current Kia Sonet, including petrol and diesel engine choices. Six trims will be available: HTK, HTK (O), HTK Plus, HTX, HTX Plus, and HTX Plus (O). Bookings open January 3rd, 2025, with deliveries commencing in February 2025. Pricing details have yet to be announced.
The Syros boasts a boxy design, drawing inspiration from the Kia EV9. Exterior features include vertically stacked 3-pod LED headlights, LED DRLs, large window panels, a kinked beltline near the C-pillar, 17-inch alloy wheels, a prominent shoulder line, and flush-type door handles. Notably, it’s Kia’s first ICE (internal combustion engine) model to feature these flush door handles, alongside a unique body-colored B-pillar. The rear showcases sleek L-shaped LED taillights and a flat tailgate.
Inside, the Syros offers a range of premium features including a Level 2 ADAS suite, a new 2-spoke steering wheel, an eight-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a panoramic sunroof, EPB with auto-hold, ambient lighting, a 360-degree camera, Kia Connect, ventilated rear seats with recline function, and a wireless charger. Additional features include an auto-dimming IRVM, a four-way powered driver’s seat, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, drive and traction modes, dual 12.3-inch screens, touch-based AC controls, OTA updates, an air purifier, a dashcam with dual cameras, paddle shifters, USB Type-C charging ports, ventilated front seats, and automatic climate control.
Engine options include a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine generating 118bhp and 172Nm of torque, and a 1.5-liter diesel engine producing 114bhp and 250Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a standard 6-speed manual, a 6-speed torque converter automatic, and a 7-speed DCT unit as an option.
