**AUSTIN, TX –** SpaceX, the aerospace manufacturer owned by Elon Musk, has officially moved its headquarters to Starbase, Texas, Musk announced on X (formerly Twitter) Thursday. This follows Musk’s July announcement that both SpaceX and X would relocate from California to Texas, citing California’s new gender identity law as a contributing factor.

While Musk previously indicated SpaceX’s main office would be in Boca Chica, Texas (the location of Starbase), the full extent of the California-to-Texas employee and facility transfer remains unclear. This move comes after SpaceX’s incorporation was also shifted from Delaware to Texas earlier this year. This follows a pattern established by Musk who also moved Tesla’s headquarters and incorporation to Texas in 2021, citing reasons unrelated to California’s new law. Musk himself relocated his residence to Texas in 2021, attracted by the state’s lack of individual income tax. Despite the headquarters move, Musk stated previously that California would remain a significant engineering hub for Tesla.
