Tue Dec 17 15:28:25 UTC 2024: ## Zimbabwe Cricketers Fined for Slow Over-Rate in T20I Against Afghanistan

**Harare, Zimbabwe –** The Zimbabwean cricket team has been penalized for a slow over-rate during their third T20I match against Afghanistan on Saturday. Each player was fined 10% of their match fee after the team fell two overs short of the target, even with time allowances considered.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the sanction, imposed by Andy Pycroft of the ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees. According to Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct, a 5% fine is levied for each over short. Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza accepted the penalty, avoiding a formal hearing. On-field umpires Iknow Chabi and Forster Mutizwa, along with third umpire Percival Sizara and fourth umpire Langton Rusere, reported the offense.

The slow over-rate penalty comes after Afghanistan clinched the three-match T20I series 2-1, winning the final match by three wickets. The two teams now move on to a three-match ODI series, followed by two Test matches, starting with the first ODI in Harare on Tuesday.
