**Bengaluru, December 17, 2024** – The Karnataka government is planning to establish a sub-committee to address the financial woes of state-run universities, Higher Education Minister M.C. Sudhakar announced Tuesday. The committee will be tasked with examining the fiscal health of these institutions and recommending solutions to improve their financial standing.
This announcement follows a discussion in the Legislative Council on The Karnataka State Universities (Amendment) Bill. Minister Sudhakar acknowledged the government’s awareness of the universities’ financial challenges and stated that the sub-committee will consult with experts to develop effective remedial measures.
Addressing concerns raised by BJP member Hemalata Nayak regarding delays in issuing mark sheets, the Minister highlighted the need for standardization in the process. He also mentioned the creation of a centralized online portal where mark sheets from all state universities are being uploaded.
